NDA Exam details for session 2025 – Exam Pattern, Eligibility, Syllabus

NDA 2025 is one of the most challenging examinations held on the national level for candidates wishing to enrol into the National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy. The examination is conducted twice a year by UPSC. The aspirants go through a written test followed by a Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, both males and females are eligible for the NDA examination.

The NDA 2025 exam tests students on various grounds during the two phases. There are two main papers in the written test: Mathematics (300 marks) and General Ability Test, or GAT including English and General knowledge (600 marks). A subsequent SSB interview follows after the written which comprises a five day comprehensive process assessing the candidates on multiple factors such as intelligence, responsiveness, personality, and appropriateness for a future in the armed services.

NDA 2025 Exam Eligibility Criteria

  • Gender: Unmarried male & female will be eligible to apply. Candidates are not allowed to get married until they have completed their training.
  • Physical Fitness: Aspirants must meet specific physical criteria which includes running at least 2.4 km in 15 minutes. They must perform skipping, sit-ups, push-ups, chin-ups, and rope climbing.
  • Age: Candidates must lie in between 16.5 to 19.5 years.
  • Medical FItness: Candidates are asked to fulfil all the medical requirements set by the authorities. Those who have withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from training academies will not be able to apply.
  • Nationality:
    • Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal will be eligible to apply.
    • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with an intention of settling in India can apply for the exam.
  • Certificate: Gorkhas subject of nepal will be asked to provide a certificate of eligibility which must be issued by Govt. of India.

NDA Exam Pattern 2025

The NDA exam pattern is an essential element for the students to understand the examination. The test is divided into two sections including written and SSB interview. Once candidates successfully pass the written test, they are called for the interview.
