Overview of the Chapters of Class 8 Science

Chapter 1: Crop Production and Management

Crop Production and Management is the first chapter of the ncert class 8 science. The chapter focuses on the production of food through agricultural activities. Some other important sections that are discussed here are the categorisation of crops: rabi and kharif based on different seasons, followed by practices of crop production which includes- preparing the soil, sowing, adding manure and fertilisers, irrigation, protecting from weeds, harvesting, storage,etc. The chapter ends with different methods of irrigation.

Chapter 2: Microorganisms – Friend and Foe

Microorganisms: Friend and Foe constitute as the second unit of the ncert class 8 science syllabus. The main hero of this chapter is microorganisms, students learn about them in length, followed by different uses of them that are important for our daily life such as making curd and bread, commercial use of microorganisms, use of microorganisms in medicines, vaccines and increasing soil fertility.
